Pasila Konepaja area

The starting point of the plan is the preservation and utilization of the strong character of the machine shop area as part of the new urban space. The residential buildings form a large block along Teollisuuskatu, with a large car-free courtyard inside. Parking is located under the courtyard deck.

From the inner courtyard of the block, there is access in the direction of Alppiharju and Vallila along Ventiilikuja, which cuts through the blocks. On the side of the street, as a wall of the area, there is an almost 300-meter-long row of gently curving houses following the line of the street, which is divided vertically into two parts, a six-story plinth and spires rising from its roof. Different colored towers covered with metal sheets structure the milieu of Teollisuuskatu and make the block stand out in the wider urban landscape. The "star houses" opening onto the park are chained point houses lower than the house on the street. The top floors of Sakaratalo have been lightened with terraces and the park facades have been given an intimate scale.
